Abu Dis, East Jerusalem
The AQB is housed in the Al-Quds Bard Center at the heart of the main campus of Al-Quds University in Abu Dis, a neighborhood in East Jerusalem. For many centuries Abu Dis has been the last stop for pilgrims and other travelers before entering into the walled city of Jerusalem. A branch of the ancient Silk Road passed in front of the AQU campus. In more recent times the Israeli Separation Wall slices through these neighborhoods, severing them from Jerusalem. One of the unique aspects of the AQB is its location, which provides Palestinians living behind the Separation Wall access to a world-class liberal-arts education.
