Requirements
Admission to the Honors College is competitive. Applicants are expected to be highly motivated students who have excelled academically and who possess strong written and spoken English language skills.
While evidence of high achievement and motivation is essential, admissions at the College looks closely at each applicant, carefully weighing all facets of the student’s high school experience and other accomplishments. The College also takes into consideration the educational constraints that confront Palestinian students. The Honors College is committed to diversity in its student body, with respect to gender, religion, geography, and family background.
While admission to The Honors College takes many factors into consideration, decisions are based on the following basic criteria:
Admissions Criteria to the Honors College
To be accepted into the Honors College students must fulfill the following criteria:
- A Tawjihi Score of 80% or higher
- SAT, GCE or IB scores equivalent to a Tawjihi score of 80% or higher are also accepted
- High School (10, 11, and 12th grade) cumulative average of 85% or above
- Good or very good skills in English writing, comprehension and conversation
- Students must write an essay with a minimum of 500 words
- Students must successfully complete a personal interview
- A TOEFL Score of 500 or above (if available)
Special Program in Medicine and Health Sciences
The Honors College offers special tracks in Biology and Chemistry for students interested in Medicine and the other health sciences. Upon successful completion of these tracks and specially designed pre-medical, pre-dental and pre-pharmaceutical programs, students with a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 (88%) are eligible to transfer into health sciences programs (Medicine, Dentistry, and Pharmaceutical Studies) with three years of credit (they will enter as fourth year students).
