Arabic Language

All students from North American institutions participating in the Al-Quds Bard Study Abroad Program will be required to take a semester-long course in colloquial Levantine Arabic.  Coursework will provide the basic linguistic framework students will need to navigate daily life in Palestine, emphasizing key vocabulary acquisition, and spoken Arabic.

Participants are strongly encouraged, although not required, to pursue formal Arabic language study while enrolled at AQB.  Given the flexibility of the curriculum, students benefit from a tailored and individualized approach to language study.

We also recommend students consider enrolling in an Arabic language course prior to studying at Al-Quds Bard.  For a list of recommended summer language programs:
