Curriculum
The Al-Quds Bard Honors College for Liberal Arts and Sciences emphasizes student-centered learning, the development of independent inquiry, and the free exchange of ideas.
An interdisciplinary curriculum creatively combines the best traditions of the Palestinian and U.S. educational systems and draws on progressive trends in contemporary education. The Honors College faculty brings together an energetic group of respected scholars, theorists, writers, and artists, who balance active research with an unflagging commitment to excellence in teaching and advising. Seminar-style classes are small and emphasize writing and critical thinking. The principal language of classroom instruction is in English.
Students from North American institutions studying for a semester at the Honors College have the flexibility to design a course of study to best meet their individual academic needs and interests. Program participants enroll in up 5 classes for a total of 15 credits, choosing from a range of upper-level and introductory courses. Students are required to take a 3-credit colloquial Arabic course. Participants are also strongly encouraged, although not required, to incorporate a Modern Standard Arabic language class into their course plan.
Upon successful complete of their coursework at the Honors College, students receive a transcript from Bard College.
